New Work
Working with a fixed color pallet this time, this is really helpful when your final artwork to the printers. Even though these are not flat colour application (i.e they are not digitally done) I have hand painted the tree trunk, leaves etc(actually everything except the yellow of the birds is pigment colour) and there is a lot of variation to the green and grey anyways, but having a pallet helps to stick to the family of colours and the printer has a better idea of the colors that you are looking for, even if you are not doing digital illustrations. Anyways if you can, always carry your final artwork (hand rendered hard-copy) to the printers to match colour, and if you have no control over printing or your art editor just does not bother- it's helpful to hand over the color pallet at-least.

Bani Thani
...and it's finally done, the story of two butterflies Bani and Thani. This books is being published by Room to Read. Room to Read is an international Non Govt Organization that primarily works in two areas - literacy and gender equality in education. They work in collaboration with communities and local governments across Asia and Africa to develop literacy skills and a habit of reading among primary school children. Room to read develops their own content, and they publish books, sadly this very book wont be available for sale at regular book-shops, since they don't sell books, but distribute it free :-( (previously I had illustrated this book for them) I had such a great time illustrating for Bani Thani. A lot of imagery is inspired by the old city in Ahmedabad (teen Darwaza area) , when I was a design student there we would venture out every weekend and explore, buy yards of fabric( from Ghamtiwala) eat street food and do photography, it's been fun revisiting all those places and illustrating this :-)
